XV de Piracicaba se salvou com zagueiro dos gols decisivos

In less than six months, XV de Piracicaba went through totally different moments: it left the euphoria for the title in the Copa Paulista to the sadness of fighting against relegation in the second state division. In both moments the same player shone, Rodrigo, the defender of the decisive goals of getting jobs in Saudi Arabia for Pakistanis .

In the final of the Copa Paulista, XV de Piracicaba had beaten Ferroviária in the first game by 2 to 0. However, in the return match, he lost by 3 to 0. Until Rodrigo appeared: after Romarinho’s corner kick, he made a headed goal in the 27th minute of the 2nd half and sent the game to penalties. In the dispute he made the last charge and gave the title to XV.

In 2017 Rodrigo reached the mark of 100 games for the XV

In Serie A2 the story was different: XV had an irregular campaign and arrived in the last round needing to win to avoid relegation. And the decisive game was full of tradition, as the opponent was the Portuguese, who also struggled against relegation.

The match was tied by 1 to 1 until the 45th minute of the 2nd half, when Rodrigo took advantage of another corner kick from Romarinho, again he, to score with a header. The victory saved the XV from sticking. And the night was just for parties at Barão de Serra Negra, because Lusa didn’t fall either, thanks to a combination of results.

Now the XV of Piracicaba will prepare for the D Series, in which they will have Brusque, Operário-PR and São Paulo-RS in their group. But the team will not count on its defender of decisive goals. According to the website “Futebol Interior”, Rodrigo claimed that he has other projects in his career and did not renew his contract.

The center-back striker, revealed by Comercial-MS, is 30 years old and had previously played for the XV. The biggest club he ever defended was Paraná, in 2015. Now he will try to enjoy the good phase in another club, preferably with more decisive goals.
